Brendan was completely oblivious to the fact that Jodie was in love with him from the moment she met him. They became super close while working in the same department store together, and then after about 5 months, they knew there was something special between them.
Oddly enough, Jessa’s wedding in season 1 of the television series Girls inspired Brendan and Jodie’s wedding. ‘She got married in a barn with flowers everywhere, and that’s when we decided we had to find a space like that. Lightspace was the first place we looked at and we fell in love with it straight away,’ Jodie said.
Brendan and Jodie say that their wedding had an ‘anti-theme’ theme. ‘We kept things simple and focused on what we loved – like the statement lighting feature with our initials, vintage silverware to offset our simple table setting and gold everything! Jodie loves flowers, so we used amazing floral canopies and green feature walls to create the reception we envisioned,’ Brendan said.
Jodie and Brendan also love board games, so they set up some old-school games during cocktail hour for their guests to play. Jodie’s Mum even hand drew a Find-a-Word featuring all the guests’ names, which was a huge hit.
Brendan is known for his dancing prowess, so for the first dance he changed into a pair of gold Adidas sneakers ‘The DJ started playing “I Want it That Way” by the Backstreet Boys and then on Brendan’s cue changed it to “Rappers Delight” by Sugar Hill Gang,’ said Jodie. ‘We had no idea. Brendan’s moves are probably the most talked about thing from our wedding day!’
