The rock star of cake decorating—the one and only, Katherine Sabbath took some time out to teach a workshop on cake pop decorating for a lucky group of HOORAY! readers. Self-described as an ‘over-enthusiastic high-school teacher who on occasion, bakes the world a better place’, Katherine is truly cake-decorating royalty. On the morning of Sunday 6 September, students arrived at the beautiful new Timbermill event space and were greeted by an amazing goodie bag full of gifts from HOORAY!, including goodies from The Loose Leaf Tea House, Daily Like + The Laser Co. Katherine gave a short introduction to kick-off the workshop, then got straight into demonstrating how to create the perfect ice cream cone cake pop. Before long, each student was well and truly underway with their own creative cake pop creations using sponge cakes, ganache and an enticing array of lollies and other sweets. Once everyone was finished, the students tucked into a scrumptious lunch provided by the wonderful team at Food Society, which included a mix of fresh salads, rolls and sandwiches. Soon it was time to head home, but not before a happy snap with the super talented, but delightfully humble dessert queen, Katherine Sabbath! The team at HOORAY! would like to send a big virtual hug to our sponsors on the day, including our superstar photographers, Amy and Milton from Milton Gan Photography and our fabulous videographer, Soda Films.
