Kaety’s Roller Disco 30th birthday party was inspired by none other than the Patina Roller Jam we featured in Issue 6 of HOORAY! ‘I always wanted something different and fun for my 30th and thought a roller disco would be perfect,’ said Kaety. Kaety, an interior designer from Sydney, has a love for events and will use any excuse to hold a fabulous party, especially when she can do most of the decorating and styling herself. ‘The roller disco theme was something I loved straight away, so even though it was proving to be almost impossible to find a venue I was extremely persistent so that I could continue with the theme,’ said Kaety. Luckily she found Play Bar, the perfect place to hold her crazy party that also allowed skating! Then once Kaety hired vintage skates from Skater HQ, she knew it was on. ‘Although I wasn’t planning a 70s-themed party, I wanted the venue to look like a 70’s roller disco, so I was inspired by studio 54 and everything glitzy, glam and sparkly. My invitations were pink and gold confetti poppers to inspire my guests to wear something bright and sparkly. They definitely hinted to what the party would be like,’ said Kaety. Given her crafty nature, Kaety made most of the decorations herself. There were Mylar silver garlands, tassel garlands and foil curtains, as well as a marquee sign made out foam, cardboard and fairy lights (creative much?). There were also jumbo balloons filled with confetti floating along the floor and a projector that played skating videos on the wall throughout the night. We love that Kaety used one of our favourite parties to inspire her 30th birthday. Now it’s time you let her party inspire yours!
