Seeing as Jessica and her husband had recently bought a new home in sunny Florida, with a big backyard, an open patio and a pool, she decided that there wasn’t a more perfect location to hold her 32nd birthday party! January in Florida is the best time for outdoor entertaining, so along with her sister-in-law Anna (owner of Urban Vintage), Jess (of Jessica Bordner Photography) threw an outdoor Southern Brunch, filled with food, drinks, friends, yard games and a big pallet farm table for everyone to gather around. Anna says that Jess is always up for a fun event at her home, especially if it involves styling! ‘She loves to entertain and says one of the things that sold her on the home they bought was that it was a perfect house for gathering people for parties.’ With only one dining table and a huge guest list, Jess came up with the genius idea of incorporating free pallets as a way to seat the people. The girls then added lots of pillows and blankets to ensure everyone stayed cozy throughout the party. On the makeshift table was vintage glassware filled with blooms, china teacups containing succulents and antlers, ‘always antlers,’ says Anna. The party also had a Bloody Mary bar, a Mimosa bar and a Waffle bar for guests to enjoy. The Bloody Mary bar had all the trimmings, including celery, hot sauce, pickles, limes and olives. But it was the Waffle bar that stole the show, with freshly made waffles and plenty of topping – you can’t beat that! Got an event to plan with an enormous guest list? There’s no need to go to an external venue! See how Jessica and Anna created this backyard Southern brunch below.
