Sam and Kim describe themselves as a relaxed, fun-loving couple that enjoys the ocean, nature, riding their bikes along the coast and tending to their vegetable patch. Sam and Kim met while on a working holiday in London, where they lived on the same street as each other. Sam proposed to Kim during a van tour across Australia. They were driving from Sam’s home in Queensland to start a new life in Perth where Kim is from. They camped overnight in the Nullarbor where Sam had somehow managed to hide a chilled bottle of champagne in the shrubs. Here, he asked her to be his wife – it was just them, the wild ocean and cliffs. ‘I wore my mother’s wedding dress,’ said Kim. I’m a sentimental gal so I thought it would be a nice thing to do. There was a slight breeze while we were being photographed and Mum’s dress was dancing in the wind – it gave me goosebumps, it was such a special moment.’ ‘Our wedding was celebrated over a weekend with everyone on holidays,’ said Kim and Sam. ‘The wedding was held on a Sunday. On the Friday before, the female guests visited Harvest Cafe Newrybar for lunch, while the guys had a game of cricket at a local park in Byron Bay. We all met up that afternoon at The Beach Hotel Byron Bay. This gave everyone the opportunity to get to know each other before the wedding. It was so great to have all the people we love the most come together from all around Australia. The love and support we felt on the day was overwhelming.’
