A Magical Wedding at The Joinery

Lisa and Tom describe themselves as ‘the perfect example of yin and yang’, so it seemed only fitting that their wedding would reflect this.

Doing away with old-fashioned traditions, Instagram and Pinterest became Lisa’s best friend during the planning process, sparking her creativity to style her event just the way she had always imagined.

Today we take a sneak peek into just how Lisa and Tom turned their wedding dreams into a reality.

THE THEME

Held at Brisbane’s edgy, modern warehouse conversion, The Joinery, Lisa and Tom say this space ‘became our own blank canvas to create whatever look and feel we wanted.’

After much decision-making, the couple eventually narrowed it down to a romantic, French, industrial-themed wedding, with a few modern touches.

The styling concept included a unique French birdcage chandelier channelling serious industrial vibes, as well as a mind-blowing hanging installation adorned in an abundance of blooms and fairy lights in all directions (just like something straight out of a magical fairy garden!).

Lisa tells us, ‘between the soaring high ceilings and the glorious polished concrete floor of The Joinery, I wanted to cosy the space up a bit.’

The hanging installation worked just the treat, adding an enchanting, romantic glow to the festivities.

THE BLOOMS

Florals were an obvious must to add feminine elements to soften the raw, industrial vibes of her theme.

Lisa says, ‘I always loved the idea of having white bridesmaids’ dresses and letting the colour from the bouquets stand out and tell their own story.’

The star of the show was definitely the Phalaenopsis Orchids nestled amongst a mixed palette of soft pink and peach tones harmonising with dark burgundy. These colours sparked the essence of romance, contrasting the industrial theme to create a playful innocence against the moody backdrop.
