A Flower Crown Bridal Shower

Moody hues, floral creations and bubbles with the bride tribe seems like the perfect bridal shower concept—and the bride, Anita, certainly created a perfect day.

Anita Elliston, owner of Sunshine Coast’s Fennel and Fern Photography jumped at the chance to style her celebration. She describes herself as a laid-back girl and wanted her bridal shower to reflect that.

The Day

Coming up with a fun idea to celebrate your upcoming nuptials can be tricky. Not every bride wants a wild night out or a high tea. Instead, Anita chose to go beyond an ordinary bridal shower by treating her guests to a flower crown workshop.

Anita enlisted the help of florist Cat from Woods & Bloom, who organised an array of botanicals for guests to arrange. The group gathered on the sunlit back deck of Homegrown Café in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, whilst Cat guided them through making their very own Pinterest-worthy floral headpieces.

The girls spent the afternoon nibbling away at a grazing table put together by Homegrown Café and sipping prosecco. Anita describes it as, “a great way to unwind, chill out and celebrate my upcoming wedding!”

The Theme

As a photographer, Anita found styling this event super exciting and went above and beyond to create the perfect palette. The theme chosen reflected her bohemian country-esque style.

The base palette consisted of matte white and ivory, with neutral soft browns inspired by winter. These tones were reflected not only in the decorations, but also in the dress code and the florals.

Fluffy cotton flowers were a focal bloom, complemented with an assortment of moody hued dried blooms, ivory strawflowers, silvery gums and apricot spray roses.

Tableware and decorations were made mostly of timber and tin, echoing a rustic theme, with vintage glassware and white vases softening the look.
