A COASTAL FIESTA WEDDING
Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 | By [email protected]
Hola Amigos! Ready for some colour, food, dancing, tequila and FUN? Brooke and Sam tell us “that is exactly what our wedding was all about.”
The love story began backpacking around the world after the couple first met on a trip in Guatemala and reunited in Argentina six months later. This adventure carried them all the way to Mexico, their favourite city and the theme of their special day.
The couple own The Petal Prop Co, an event style and hire company, so you can expect this wedding to be next level! Take a look at how they captured the vibrancy and flamboyance of Mexico for their wedding in Tweed Heads.
Vamos de fiesta! A Mexican fiesta with a classy coastal twist. The couple used warm and muted terracotta, peaches, oranges and dusty pink tones to represent this theme, with these colours appearing mainly in the backdrops, balloons and florals. The decor added an element of fun with little cacti, piñatas and photo booths props including Mexican hats! Draped fairy lights resembled city lights, further transforming the space into a street straight out of Mexico City.
And what is a fiesta without a feast? Guests enjoyed a heavenly spread of locally sourced food prepared by Ancora Weddings.
When we asked the couple about their drinks menu, they said “everything, but with emphasis on tequila.”
The margarita featured as the signature cocktail is a Mexican fiesta must-have. The spirit was incorporated into many other aspects of the wedding including a neon sign reading ‘You had me at Tequila’ and the party favours: little bottles of – you guessed it, tequila! Even the cake topper wore a tequila hat!
Now let’s cut the cake and get this party started!
Brooke and Sam embraced Mexican culture in every way, including their first dance. After entering their reception as husband and wife, they took to the floor to perform a full salsa, reggae routine “executed with lifts, spins and footwork,” choreographed by and rehearsed at Passada Dance in Burleigh. This entertainment became one of the highlights of the night.
