Meet Kate Lily Dressing Hair
Hi, my name’s Kate and I love hair. Not in a creepy “hair sniffing” kind of way, more like I love DOING hair – colouring, cutting, styling, transforming. If you know me, you know that hair is my life.
Hair and I have been going strong for a solid eight years now. It’s my longest, most committed relationship (sorry Jake). Throughout my time as a hairdresser, I’ve been lucky enough to work on a heap of major fashion campaigns around Australia and consequently on the hair of some pretty noteworthy people including, Megan Gale, Bec from Bec and Bridge, Zoe Barnard and none other than Georgia May freakin’ Jagger. I’ve listed a few others below. In 2016, I was chosen as a Redken Young Tribe Member, which significantly developed my skills as a colourist, so pretty colours are now my thing.
After working at some of Canberra’s best salons, I decided to take the plunge into freelance work – I’m now my own girl boss and I’m loving it! You’ll find me amongst all the fun at Lexi Bannister Hair, Manuka ACT.
My absolute passion is bridal and event hair styling. It’s the smashed avo to my toast. I love seeing how a hairstyle can transform a bride and completely boost her confidence. I have extensive experience in bridal hair – from classic to on-trend styles, I do it all AND I come to you. Yep, even interstate or overseas.
My process starts with a compulsory trial – this is the most important part. We chat (preferably over coffee), so that I can get to know you and what you like and don’t like. You share photos and inspiration and I help you decide on a concept. Then I get styling and don’t stop until I refine and perfect the look you’re after. I also like to create a plan to help get your hair into shape for your special day, including a schedule of any colours, cuts or treatments you might require along the way.
