Saturday October 11, 2014 saw another wonderful HOORAY! workshop! This time we jetted over to Perth for DIY piñata and tassel garland making with Stacey Clark Stylist. Students arrived bright and early to the beautiful Kidogo Arthouse, situated along the shores of Fremantle. The room was simple but beautifully styled by Stacey, with furniture provided by Her Handpicked Harvest. Stacey began the workshop with a short speech about how she became a stylist and the importance of doing something for yourself, no matter how busy life gets (right on Stacey). Then it was time for the first lesson – the art of piñata making. After demonstrating how to make a geometric piñata, students collected their materials and had a go at creating their own. And if that wasn’t fun enough, each student was also given the most delicious cake jar to snack on while crafting, thanks to the team at The Red Bird Cake Company. Once everyone had perfected their piñatas, it was time to learn how to make a tassel garland. Again, Stacey demonstrated the project to the group first, then as each student created a garland of their own, she answered all of their styling questions and shared a few of her best tips and tricks of the trade. When midday rolled around it was time for lunch, which was provided by the wonderful team at Kent Street Deli. The feast was a mix of lamb, chicken and beef pies, and a pumpkin and a quinoa salad, all of which were very well received by the hungry group. After lunch we sent students on their way with their creations, an awesome goodie bag (filled with gifts from Coco Daydream, The Articulate, Cranmore Home and Koch & Co.) and their newfound styling skills!
