Nothing says ‘Mexican’ more than Tacos and a vibrant street parade, and that’s exactly what Melisa + Duncan incorporated into their beautiful Mexican themed wedding located in, yep, you guessed it—Mexico!

Now, let’s go back in time to when Duncan proposed. When they were dating, the pair had a special place they liked to visit together to talk, star gaze, light a fire and enjoy drinks. It was a remote little spot across the lake, only accessible by boat, which Melisa + Duncan named ‘our rock’. Late on a warm night, Duncan asked Melisa if she wanted to go to their rock to have a fire. Feeling tired and a little lazy, Melisa agreed, only for the couple to experience difficulties trying to get the boat to budge, and then a problem with the motor! Finally, they made it to their rock and Duncan proposed not long after. Phew! (We’re feeling exhausted just thinking about the boat struggle—props to Duncan for persevering!)

The Canadian couple from Ontario didn’t want to have a run-of-the-mill beach wedding, but they knew they wanted to marry in Mexico, as Melisa had family residing there already. ‘My mom was born in Mexico so I have a lot of family living there. After some research online, we discovered the magical little town of San Miguel de Allende. We were so excited to be able to find a location that was so beautiful and full of culture,’ the bride said.

The mood and feeling of the wedding was vibrant and romantic, complemented with a soft palette of peach, pinks, corals with gold and wooden accents. The festivities lasted a week long—enough time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and surroundings of Mexico and to spend quality time with the bride and groom.

‘Our intent was to plan a week that was vibrant and reflective of the local culture, but also an extension of us as a couple,’ Melisa said. ‘We wanted the entire week to feel intimate and authentic to the two of us, our personality and our relationship. It was most definitely the best week of our lives and we would do it all over again in a heartbeat.’

Words can’t describe the energy and positive vibes that radiated from everyone at the wedding, so have a look at the images of this stunning bride and groom on their big day.RC_Weddings_MelisaandDuncan_37RC_Weddings_MelisaandDuncan_20RC_Weddings_MelisaandDuncan_33RC_Weddings_MelisaandDuncan_38RC_Weddings_MelisaandDuncan_62 Photography Pierce Lifestyle Photography | Videography Barros Weddings | Event Planning Alicia Vilar of San Miguel Weddings | Event Styling + Decorations + Floral Styling + Catering + Cake + Transport San Miguel Weddings | Location San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico | Ceremony Venue Instituto Allende | Reception Venue Casa Carino | Celebrant Ernie Townsend | Guest List 78 guests | Stationery Paperless Post | Hair + Makeup Estética Visage | Gown (custom gown) BHLDN bridal | Bridesmaids Dresses Lindgren’s Bridal & Boutique | Shoes Browns Shoes | Suits Moores | Engagement Ring Robert Brown Jewellers
