Located in Obi Obi, a serene inland area near the Sunshine Coast of Australia, Bonnie and Steven married in the presence of 90 family and friends. Their big day was full of sentimental elements and special moments.
To Bonnie’s surprise, as she started to walk down the aisle Steven played their wedding song on violin—despite having started violin lessons only six months prior to their wedding day. The groom had been working away and learning to play with help from a violin teacher and online lessons from his Uncle who lives in Ireland—all while keeping it all a big secret from the bride! Bonnie says, ‘there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!’
The groom’s Uncle Dave travelled from Ireland to be at the wedding and played violin for the ceremony, joined by the groom’s aunty Miranda who played the piano and travelled from London.
Adding to the sentimental tone of the celebration, the bride wore an antique necklace and bracelet which had belonged to her Nanna Aggie May, had her Pa’s navy button pinned into her bouquet, the Bride’s mother made a horseshoe for her bouquet in the same material as the wedding dress, and photos of parents and grandparents weddings were on display.
And Bonnie’s favourite moment? She says, ‘putting the bow tie on my groom whilst he was blindfolded before the wedding, and holding hands with him during the ceremony… and of course the Groom playing the violin!’
