A Revelrous Canberra Wedding

Kate and Jake’s story is a modern-day, fun-filled and pizza-fuelled love fest. From their beginnings through Instagram to their instantly shared love for pizza, this couple are the perfect fun-loving pair and their magical day certainly showed that!

Kate and Jake met in a crazy Instagram flirt-fest where they had a few mutual friends, but Jake took the lead. Fast-forward a few years, and in the midst of planning an incredible Europe adventure, Jake convinced Kate he wanted to test out his new go-pro stand on the beach and beckoned her over for a happy snap! Moments later, much to Kate’s surprise, Jake was on one knee and they captured the whole thing!

The vibe

Making your wedding day feel like yours is so important! For Kate and Jake, this meant a super-chill, revelrous party.

Whilst deciding against a theme, Kate and Jake chose to use simple decorations and bring the fun with their massive, bright florals and the bridal party outfits.

Kate reflected on their wants for the day saying, ‘It was our wedding. We wanted it to be super chilled and more of a party than your classic wedding reception.’

The groomsmen wore classic chinos and white button-up shirts with gorgeous maroon suspenders and super-bright floral bowties, while Jake wore the same, topped with a brilliant maroon suit jacket. Plus, on the morning of the big day, Jake surprised his groomsmen with the most adorable little gift boxes containing matching pizza socks!
The bridesmaids wore mismatched emerald green dresses, whilst the ‘bridesman’ wore a matching suit. These stunning pops of colour certainly created that fun vibe the couple is known for.

Is there any funkier place to say “I do” than in an abandoned observatory overlooking a picturesque mountain range? We don’t think so! The crumbling site of the old Mt Stromlo Observatory in Canberra played house for their nuptials and the colours of the florals and outfits certainly provided that incredible super-fun vibe!

The eats

In some weddings, food doesn’t play a huge part. It can be about what tastes amazing or what looks the most Instagrammable, but not for Kate and Jake! Their menu choices were an integral part of their vibe and their love-story.

The pair bonded over their love of pizza on their first date and knew it was a must-have for the day. Obviously, their menu consisted of the delicious pizza creations from Pizza 2 You and the two were able to share their favourite eats with their favourite people!

The desserts were lovingly handcrafted by their Mums and Nana, as well as some family friends who whipped up a delectable display of sweet treats including brownies, doughnuts, cakes and tiramisu.
