“If you go down in the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise. If you go down in the woods today, you’d better go in disguise! For every bear that ever there was, will gather there for certain because today’s the day the Teddy Bears have their picnic!”

On the very first day of Spring, little Beau and his party guests celebrated his first birthday over a seriously cute first birthday party.

Beau’s mum, Lindy, has always called him ‘Beau Bear’, so what better theme for an epic first birthday than a Teddy Bear’s Picnic?

The theme

Lindy entrusted the day’s styling to the incredibly talented Amy from Cloud 9 Events, who was inspired by a vintage invitation featuring a little bear. When she found out that Beau was known as ‘Beau Bear’, she knew she simply had to create the very best vintage-style teddy bear’s picnic!

Together, they drew on three beloved children’s tales—Teddy Bears Picnic, Winnie the Pooh and Goldilocks and the Three Bears—to inspire the festivities. They even had their very own Goldilocks visit the party to entertain the little ones!

Upon arrival, guests followed little bear prints painted onto the grass, which lead them all ‘into the woods’.
The party was held on Beau’s family farm, so seating was made up of cloth-covered hay bales, with little wooden crate tables all around.

A huge teepee housed the food and drinks station, full of picnic snacks for little bears and grown-ups alike.

Mini cubs were treated to a craft table, where everyone could decorate their wooden initial party favour. Lindy had lovingly prepared each child a blackboard-painted wooden letter and a little bundle of chalk for them to get creative with!

The treats

What would a teddy bear’s picnic be without the picnic treats? Everyone was certainly spoiled for choice with an incredible array of food for the adults, inspired by classic picnic foods such as honey-glazed ham, pulled pork, coleslaw and salads. The littlies were treated to scrumptious sausage rolls, pies and veggie sticks.

A drinks cart full of mini chocolate milkshakes in glass bottles for the kids and a signature cocktail, mocktails and an array of champagne and beer kept everyone’s thirst quenched.

The best part of it all was certainly the sweet treats! The sweets table featured themed goodies like Teddy Bear Cookies, beehive cupcakes, ‘Beau Bear’ cake pops and an incredible cake made by Beau’s Mum Lindy.

Event stylist Amy says, “On the day the best part was seeing the children’s faces, the fun they have, the joy that celebrating brings.”
