Murrumbateman, a small country village in NSW, is undeniably one of our favourite Australian wedding destinations. A cool climate wine region, the district is home to over 20 boutique wineries, gorgeous natural surrounds and a special type of rustic charm.

There’s an abundance of wedding venues in the local area; Olleyville at Shaw Vineyard EstatePoachers Pantry, Murrumbateman Winery, Four Winds Vineyard and The Vintner’s Daughter are all local gems, while venues such as Grazing at Gundaroo and Lake George Winery are only a short drive away.

However, despite the swathe of stunning venues, one of the downsides of hosting a wedding in a smaller region is the ability to accommodate guests. Often, hosting a wedding here means you’ll need to pick one of three not-so-ideal options; a) organise a bus to ferry guests home, 2) guests organise designated drivers (who miss out on enjoying the local wines at your reception!), or 3) your guests encounter expensive taxi fees for the long-haul back to their city accommodation.

This is why we’re so excited about the opening of Abode Murrumbateman, a new hotel in the heart of Murrumbateman. The hotel boasts 50 studio rooms, large flexible foyer spaces, communal kitchen facilities and a guest lounge, meaning your bridal party and wedding guests will be well catered to.

We picture wedding parties booking rooms here to prepare for their wedding ceremony, accommodate their wedding guests, and conveniently stay in close proximity to the wedding venue.

Picture: a bride waking up on the morning of her wedding…

In anticipation of a big day ahead, a quiet in-room breakfast sets a calm tone for the day. Our bride enjoys a healthy start with fresh fruit, muesli, juice and a barista coffee; fuelling her with energy for the day ahead. She flips through a magazine to enjoy a moment of peace before the wedding preparations begin.

A note from her soon-to-be husband…

A love letter with musings from the groom fills our bride with warmth and excitement. His heartfelt words remind the bride to keep her focus on the most important part of the day, celebrating their love and life together.

The bridesmaids arrive! Time to pop the bubbly…

The wedding preparations are about to begin – and with so many acclaimed local wineries, it would be sacrilegious to not have a little bubbly, right? The bride pops open a bottle of Sparkling Duet by local winery, Gallagher Wines, to enjoy with her bridesmaids as they get ready.

Awaiting transport in the hotel lobby

When the bride and her maids are ready, they wait for their driver in the hotel lobby. The guest lounge provides a stylish, homely setting for the bridal party to grab a few images with the photographer before embarking on their way to the ceremony.

The following day: a winery tour by bike

After a day of pure revelry, the newlyweds and their wedding guests enjoy a winery tour by bike loaned from the hotel. A perfect way to take in the beauty of the Murrumbateman landscape while enjoying the stellar produce the area has to offer.
