On Sunday October 12, 2014 we held one bloomin’ good HOORAY! workshop in Perth with Rebecca from Fox + Rabbit. Here’s a quick look at how the day went down: Rebecca arrived at the beautiful Perth City Farm early Sunday morning with a truckload of fresh blooms. Seriously, there were buckets upon buckets of flowers – it was heaven! Soon after, the wonderful team from Her Handpicked Harvest delivered their stunning vintage tables and chairs, which were used as the students’ floral styling workstations. Jess from Butcher, Baker, Stylist + Creator then stopped by to drop off her divine salted caramel fudge and cupcakes. While she was around, we also took advantage of her amazing styling skills to help complete the setup of the room. At 11am our students arrived and (as per usual) immediately got stuck into their goodie bags, which included gifts from Coco Daydream, Koch + Co, Type Hype and Butcher, Baker, Stylist + Creator. Rebecca began the workshop by sharing all of her tips on flower care, getting the most life out of blooms and what to look for when purchasing freshly cut florals. Students then chose their individual bunches and prepped each flower so that it was ready to be transformed into a beautiful bouquet. By this time, everyone was pretty hungry, so the group stopped for a plated lunch, served up by the amazing Katrina Sykes from Soiree Catering, then everyone treated themselves to miniature tartlets and fruit sticks for dessert – delicious! After lunch, students began creating their bouquets. Suddenly the room was full of activity and, with Rebecca’s help, each student’s floral creation came to life! Then, after a short Q&A, it was time for everyone to head home with an arm full of goodies and a head full of newfound floral knowledge.
