Christmas Wreath Making with The Flower Era
On the afternoon of Friday December 5, as the rain loudly pattered down on the roof of The Nest creative space, our students followed the florals over to the beautiful The Flower Era studio for their Christmas wreath making workshop. The already stunning space was decked out with some breathtaking handmade furniture thanks to the peeps at Timbermill Rentals. Students were met by the wonderful Amelia (owner of The Flower Era) and it wasn’t long before they were rummaging through their goodie bags, packed full of gifts from Coco Daydream, Alex Mae, The Aromatherapy Company and Down That Little Lane. Once everyone had arrived, Amelia got stuck into demonstrating the first step of creating an all-natural Christmas wreath. Then it was time for students to get their hands dirty and begin creating their own wreath base, using nothing but a ring, moss and cotton. After Amelia was content with everyone’s bases, she demonstrated the second step – attaching the foliage. At 7:30pm, it was time to break for dinner, which was provided by the very friendly team at Dan the Man. The Christmas inspired spread included a tiger prawn salad with heirloom tomatoes, panatone croutons and a prosecco vinaigrette, a roulade of turkey, smoked pancetta, with a sage and dried cranberry stuffing, and a Christmas ham terrine with a brandy and cherry chutney – wow. Following our delicious dinner, students continued with their wreaths, adding the final touches, which included a few native blooms. Then voila, they were complete! Everyone left feeling super proud of their creations and full of the Christmas spirit. A huge thank you goes out to all of our amazing sponsors for the night, especially our photographer Kara from Mark & Kara Photography, and our videographer Ehran from The Story of Us.
