A Bohemian Brunch for Eden-Mae’s 1st Birthday

Eden-Mae’s first birthday was a celebration of two things: 1) Eden-Mae turning one; and 2) Eden-Mae’s parents surviving their first year of parenthood.

‘We made it brunch style so that it was a good time for the babies and also so that we could serve parents a much needed coffee or a glass of champagne,’ says Eden-Mae’s mum, Naomi.

Like many other first-time mothers, Naomi says that planning first birthday parties can be pretty overwhelming, especially if you start scrolling into the depths of Pinterest.

‘But if you just stay true to your style or theme and stick to your budget, you can create something beautiful,’ explains Naomi.

For Eden-Mae’s party, Naomi picked the theme ‘Floral Bohemian’, inspired by fresh blooms, bohemia, balloons and every shade of pink imaginable!

She wrapped the chimney in a remarkable pink balloon garland. She also created a stunningly simple backdrop using Eden-Mae’s name in white, set on greenery surrounded by beautiful pastel flowers and fake pampas grass for an added boho vibe.

It was important to Naomi to personalise the party so that it felt totally unique to Eden-Mae, so she set up each space to show-off something specific about her firstborn daughter.

‘We had an Arlo & Co “Birthday Milestone Board” with some unique little facts about her, which we can change each year on her birthday,’ says Naomi.

‘We also had her monthly milestone photos printed so guests could see how she’s grown and changed over the last year, as well as a birth poster with Edie’s birthday measurements drawn down to scale 1:1 in a sketch type artwork.’

But even with a fabulous party under her belt, Naomi says that at the end of the day it’s not about the decorations, it’s about the little blessing in your arms celebrating their first birthday milestone!
