A Modern Romantic Melbourne Wedding

Georgia and Ryan met the only way modern singles know how…on Tinder, obviously!

Their wedding was a mix of modern romance and tradition. It was a night of delicious food (including a new fave of ours, roving desserts), espresso martinis, laughter and a whole lot of dancing!

With Georgia’s Greek Australian background, she inherited a beautiful culture that the couple wanted to inject into their wedding. So, Ryan decided he would convert to Greek Orthodox so the couple could marry in Georgia’s family church; the very same church that married her parents 36 years earlier.

Their reception was held in The George Ballroom in Melbourne, a venue which Georgia says inspired all other elements of their wedding.

‘Our theme “modern romance” began with our venue. It just oozed romance to us and we wanted to stay true to this,’ explains Georgia.

‘We really didn’t have to do much to add to the décor, just small touches, as we felt the venue spoke for itself.’

‘There were gold accents on the accessories and we had a large personalised pink neon sign at the end of the room, which looked amazing, particularly when dancing the night away under the pink glow.’

It was Georgia’s florist, Dahlia Fandango, that helped to develop the colour palette for the soiree.

‘We were on the same page when we met up to discuss blooms…our colour palette started when I picked our flowers and this began our theme for everything,’ says Georgia.

The tables were adorned with simple and romantic arrangements featuring greenery Dahlias, Roses and natives in neutral pastels with bold pops of burgundy and deep raspberry.

‘Lighter colours and more casual flowers featured in the bouquets, while deeper colours and more roses were used in the venue flowers for a more romantic feel. The boy’s buttonholes were kept masculine with greenery and muted colours,’ says Georgia.

Georgia also provided some important advice for those early on in their wedding plans.

‘When it comes to budgets, allocate more money to things you see as important, to me that was photographer and flowers,’ says Georgia.
