Meet Josh and Shae. He’s a labourer; she’s a speech pathologist.

Josh was persistent in his attempts to vie for Shae’s attention until she eventually agreed to go on a date with him. His persistence clearly paid off—now he gets to call her his wife!

Together, the couple officiated their romance with an awe-inspiring celebration at one of our favourite winery venues, Brown Brothers Winery in Milawa.

The Venue

The loved-up duo wanted a rustic wedding for their big day. Think: oh-so-romantic, while totally laid-back.

The picturesque Brown Brothers Winery in Milawa provided a serene backdrop for Shae and Josh to host their nuptials. Hosting 118 of their nearest and dearest, they couldn’t go wrong with this iconic winery venue.

The couple tell us, “We said ‘I do’ under the oak trees with the picturesque backdrop of vines and distant mountains at Brown Brothers Winery.”

The reception followed in the stunning restored barn, which perfectly captured the rustic atmosphere the couple were seeking. Guest dined on long wooden tables under a spectacular canopy of glittering fairy lights hung high above the festivities.

Brown Brothers also catered the event, with a menu boasting king prawns, smoked pork belly, porterhouse and Milawa chicken (among other delectable delights!).

The couple add, “the food and staff were honestly incredible. They went above and beyond to make sure our day went as planned. We couldn’t thank them enough.”

The Styling

Keeping to their rustic theme, the couple looked to the venue as the main source of inspiration for their wedding styling.

Shae explains, “Given the beautiful nature of the restored barn, our theme was rustic.”

“Brown Brothers is such a naturally stunning venue, so our styling was quite minimal.”

The couple enlisted floral studio, Wren Floralista, to design the florals for the occasion. The end result was an array of blooms in soft pastel colours, artfully arranged into whimsical bouquets composed of field roses, ranunculus, stock and greenery.

“We had some beautiful whimsical florals on wine barrels for our ceremony. In our reception space we also had some table garlands with added floral clusters to complement the bridal florals,” Shae adds.

“The rest of the styling was left up to the Brown Brothers staff! They did a wonderful job.”
