On Saturday 31 May we held our Canberra hair and makeup HOORAY! workshop with the fab Chad of Styled by Chad, and boy was it a beauty (pun intended)! The team arrived at our very own HOORAY! studio a few hours early to get it ready for the evening’s workshop. We transformed the place into the perfect space for a fun night out with the girls, and filled goodie bags to the brim with gifts thanks to Form Hair, Whileaway Guides, Coco Daydream, Philosophy, Sally Hansen, Chloé, Juliette Dudley and Invitation Tea Towels for our students. Chad then set up 2 entire tables with his insane hair and makeup kit, and prepped the models before the students arrived. We had to hold back from trying all of the luscious products that he brought along with him. One by one our budding students began to arrive, ready to learn how to glam up their hair and makeup like a pro. The champagne was popping from the get go and everyone gathered to learn Chad’s first look – a classic and very natural bridal style. In the meantime our caterers, Nutmeg Catering, snuck in and out, dropping off some yummy canapés for everyone to snack on while they learnt secrets like, ‘eyelids need to be prepped with loose powder before applying eye shadow’, and ‘hair should be washed at least a day before the big event in order to achieve the perfect up-do.’ Next came Chad’s second look – a modern and edgy (not so) bridal style. The champagne was still pouring while Chad shared his tricks to create the perfect smokey-eye and insider tips on face contouring techniques. Chad had also pre-set the model’s hair in rollers and showed everyone how to brush it out to create a curly ‘Hollywood glam’ style, then scooped it into an easy up-do with just a few bobby pins!
