A Mis-Matched 2nd Birthday Party
Wednesday, February 4th, 2015 | By Rosalie Iannelli
Benjamin’s 2nd birthday party was an intimate affair, held at his family home in Kuala Lumpur. His mother, Shentel, is both a graphic designer and co-creator of Sereni & Shentel, Bowerhaus and Photobooth Events Malaysia, so she wanted to incorporate all of the things she loves to do into the special event. While out shopping, Shentel fell in love with some Indian umbrellas she found at her favourite store. These became the base of the overall look of the party, but after giving birth to her second child just 2 weeks before the event, she had to make a last minute effort find other decorations and uncover all of the fun things she had kept hidden at home for too long. Luckily, this combination of random decorations came together seamlessly! Using a colour palette of yellow, ivory and grey, Shentel hung vintage bunting from the ceiling, propped umbrellas on the table and placed handmade place cards and silly birthday jokes at each setting. ‘I got the idea from the Christmas jokes that we had so much fun reading aloud from Christmas crackers a few days earlier. It’s a great icebreaker between courses,’ said Shentel, who also made the cutest bowtie and boutonniere pins for all of the male guests from her business Sereni & Shentel. We have fallen in love with little Benjamin’s 2nd birthday! Check out the images below and get inspired to ransack your own cupboards to put together one amazing mish-mash of a party!
