A Feel-Good Floral Workshop

What happens when you mix one of our favourite florists, a kitsch-y Melbourne warehouse space, a sublime grazing table, plenty of bubbly and 60 incredible women? A whole bunch of love, laughs and money for charity to boot!

We were super excited to hear that one of our favourite Melbourne florists—Vivien of Flos Botanical Studio—was hosting a charity flower workshop to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The Night

Set up in an adorable industrial-style warehouse in Melbourne’s inner east, attendees were treated to a night full of stunning visuals curated by Good Day Club, and a spectacular hanging installation by Bangin Hangins.

The array of quirky statement furniture and knick-knacks combined with the lush, bold roof installations really amped up the fun. Add in a few glasses of champagne and a to-die-for grazing platter full of cakes, cheeses and fruits—and these women were in for a treat.

All flowers for this event were donated by local female flower farmers and the foliage was (adorably!) foraged from Vivien’s mum’s garden! The gals were treated to hands-on flower arranging with blushing blooms ranging from Dahlias to Snap Dragons.

Vivien reflected, “It was such an amazing night, filled with incredible energy. It was such a beautiful celebration.”

The Cause

The workshop raised over $4,000 for their chosen charity, Wire. Wire stands for Women’s Information and Referral Exchange Inc and is Victoria’s only state-wide, free generalist information, support and generalist service run by women for women.

Every vendor and supplier of the evening donated their time and services to the cause in the hopes of allowing more women to be able to access the help and information they need. An event like this may regularly have cost hundreds of dollars to attend, but with the donated time and effort, tickets were more affordable and meant an enormous turnout.
